Geologizing in the Field and at Sea

Going out into the field is one of the best parts of being a geologist. I try to get ‘out of the office’, on either an excursion or a fieldtrip, at least once a year. Past field trips have given me a lot of experience in stratigraphic logging, cyclostratigraphy, and the astronomical dating of rock outcrops and marine sediments recovered during ocean drilling expeditions. Click on IODP Expedition 342,  SicilyMoroccoFrance, or Denmark to see a selection of photographs of recent field trips and expeditions.
